### Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy bank team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across both ward-based clinical services and the pharmacy dispensary, providing a varied role that will allow you to use and develop a broad range of pharmacy skills.

You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team on the wards, supporting the safe and effective use of medicines, while also contributing to the provision of a high-quality and efficient dispensing service.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Pharmacy Technician with excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to patient-centred care, and the ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a wider pharmacy and multidisciplinary team.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ward-Based Clinical / Medicines Management

- Undertake medicines reconciliation and medicines management activities on designated wards.
- Review patients' own medicines and assess their suitability for use during admission.
- Contribute to discharge planning and the timely supply of discharge medicines.

Dispensary

- Accurately dispense prescriptions and prepare medicines for supply in accordance with legal requirements, departmental procedures and professional standards.
- Undertake final accuracy checking where appropriately qualified and authorised.
- Assist with controlled drug procedures and other medicines governance processes.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

- To have a working knowledge of current local and national issues for the NHS e.g. Carter review and how these affect KGH
- Proven ability to manage their own time and that of others
- Proven ability to work alone and as part of a team
