If you consider yourself to be adaptable and resilient and have an interest ensuring that prisoners have equal access to care as they would in the community, then come and work at Parc Prison.

The role is based inside the prison with exciting opportunities to learn and broaden your knowledge of the justice system and how prisoners are able to access services.

You you will be working within a small administration team but alongside a much wider primary care team and security staff as well as building relationships with staff at local hospitals.

### Main duties of the job

You will be working within a small but strong administration team and also alongside a much wider primary care team and even larger security team. You will be responsible for booking external hospital appointments on behalf of patients, which involves developing strong relationships with staff at local hospitals. Often, appointments have to be re-arranged at short notice, so a high degree of flexibility and patience is a must. You will also be responsible for supporting the GPs with referrals to hospital and actioning electronic tasks in relation to patient care. You will also see prisoners on a daily basis as they visit the healthcare department for all their different primary care appointments. Due to the fact that prisoners are unable to make contact with local hospitals themselves, you will need to be demonstrate determination and compassion in securing access to care on their behalf, whilst being mindful of prison protocol and security risks.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to use Welsh in routine workplace situations, such as greeting customers, answering calls, responding to routine enquiries, providing information, arranging appointments and taking messages. ### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Welsh language skills are desirable

- Excellent keyboard and audio typing skills
