### Main duties of the job

We are pleased to offer applications for two Medical Retina Specialist Doctors. You will have the opportunity to work alongside some world leaders in the field of Medical Retina.

The Eye Unit forms part of a large acute teaching Trust in England and delivers quality care for a range of retinal conditions including inherited diseases.

We are looking for someone who is motivated to provide quality care and has a passion to drive change in how we deliver for our patients in the ever challenging environment of the current NHS.

Your contribution to those with life long conditions is key in maintaining quality of life and offering expert support is essential to ensuring our patients engage in their care.

Our multi-disciplinary team is ever growing and we would welcome you bringing your knowledge and skills and join us in our busy unit, helping us to continue to care for our patients.

- Provision of quality care for patients with a wide range of medical retina conditions. 2. Provide training of other members of the multidisciplinary team. 3. Actively engage in helping change how we best deliver care for our patients.

## Person Specification

### Aptitudes and Skills

**Essential**

- Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
- Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
- Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English)
- Demonstrate good organisational skills including ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate the ability to be calm, compassionate, and able to respond efficiently to various circumstances, which may change rapidly
- Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

**Desirable**

- Able to perform intra vitreal injections
- Able to perform pascal laser treatments for diabetic retinopathy
- Teaching experience

### Qualifications, Training & Experience

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- A minimum of 12 months Ophthalmology practice
- Experience in Medical Retina

**Desirable**

- Post CCT
- Further qualifications
