### Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to help support the diagnostic work of the department.

You are expected to at least have previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant or to have worked in a diagnostic laboratory. A key eye for details and working in an organised manner is crucial to this role.

Please note there potentially may be expectation for you to participate in night shifts. As we are currently reviewing our night service and looking at a restructure of the current night shift.

This is a vibrant, progressive, well equipped, and a ISO15189 accredited laboratory.

### Main duties of the job

The department provides an extensive range of investigations to support the specialist patient population of this tertiary referral paediatric hospital, and also provides a specialist service to other hospitals.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a very experienced and dedicated team to gain extra skills and knowledge of paediatric microbiology.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
