A vacancy has arisen for an existing substantive full-time B5 Medical Assistant to join the North Cumbria In-Patients Services at Carleton Clinic, Carlisle, Cumbria.

We are looking for applicants for this post to work alongside allocated Consultants and the ward's medical teams to support them in their management of the patient pathway, ensuring all necessary information and resources are available in a timely manner, and that administrative information flows without repetition or delay.

### Main duties of the job

Coordinate and support with the management of patient pathways, ensuring that all necessary information and resources are available in a timely manner.

Provide minute taking support.

Supporting with preparing tribunal reports.

Document clinical encounters directly into RiO using semi-structured approach, including appropriate detail around consent and capacity

Use a range of semi-structured assessments directly with service users to add to clinical assessment and treatment pathways

Under supervision, provide appropriate medical information for third parties regarding service users.

Work alongside Medical Team providing clinical care in the community, optomising patient flow and efficiency of service, ensuring standards of care are met with a particular focus on physical health monitoring, communication and documentation.

Working with Service Users with a focus on enabling recovery.

## Person Specification

### Skills and Competencies

**Essential**

- Communication on complex information and administrative matters, requiring interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with Service Users and carers
- Ability to work on own initiative and organise own work load, with minimal supervision, working to tight and often challenging time scales

**Desirable**

- Ability to draft reports and collate data

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management or information analysis

**Desirable**

- Basic knowledge of quality management and improvement

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Education to a degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience or skills working at a similar level in specialist area with evidence of required competencies achieved
- Word Processing skills at Level 3 (e.g. /RSA Lev 3 or the equivalent

**Desirable**

- Qualifications (s) in relevant subjects plus relevant experience)
- Audio Typing qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Note taking skills.
