We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic individual to join the Cancer, Specialist & Clinical Support Services (CSCS) Matron team on a fixed-term secondment for 6 months. The role will a range of services in CSCS including Endoscopy across all of our hospital sites.

Working collaboratively with Matron colleagues, you will be part of a forward‑thinking senior nursing team, promoting the Trust’s vision and values through visible, credible leadership. You will hold teams to account, providing assurance that care is safe, effective and responsive.

You will be passionate about developing staff, improving care quality through service improvement initiatives and delivering a positive patient experience. You will empower teams, create a supportive learning environment and work confidently and independently across your areas.

The Matron provides senior nursing leadership within the Care Group, contributing to a rota covering staffing, escalation and hospital safety at weekends and out of hours.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop leadership, people management, financial and service development skills within a supportive clinical environment.

### Main duties of the job

Act as a senior professional role model, leading by example and empowering staff to deliver consistently high standards of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care. Provide visible and accessible clinical leadership, ensuring patients are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness at all times.

Work autonomously within Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines, taking timely action to manage risk and maintain patient and staff safety. Ensure an appropriately skilled and competent workforce is in place, deployed efficiently and effectively, using resources responsibly while supporting recruitment, retention, and staff development.

Lead and contribute to complaint, incident, and serious incident investigations, identifying learning, sharing best practice, and embedding improvements into clinical practice. Monitor, audit, and evaluate standards of care and patient experience, providing assurance that quality standards and Key Performance Indicators are achieved and sustained.

Act as an ambassador for Trust values and behavioural standards, promoting a positive and inclusive culture. Maintain a continuous focus on quality improvement and service development to ensure care remains person‑centred, responsive, and aligned to organisational priorities.

## Person Specification

### Experience and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Experience at Band 7 or  equivalent
- Experience of managing and  leading teams
- Knowledge and experience  of HR processes
- Good understanding of and  experience of the  complaint’s management  process

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (Level 1)
- Relevant post registration  education/development
- MSc level qualification in  health care leadership or in  a relevant nursing  speciality or equivalent  qualifications or knowledge
