We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to undertake a 12 month secondment as Matron for Obstetric and Gynaecology  private services.

The Matron – Private Patients Obstetrics & Gynaecology will provide senior clinical, professional and operational leadership for the Trust's private women's health services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care across maternity and gynaecology.

Working across Westminster Maternity Suite, Women's Health at Wimpole Street and alongside inpatient gynaecology services, the post holder will help lead the continued development of an integrated private women's health portfolio, bringing together maternity, inpatient gynaecology, outpatient and ambulatory services to deliver seamless, patient-centred pathways and an outstanding patient experience.

Private patient services are fully integrated within the Women's Health Directorate and operate in close partnership with NHS clinical teams. The post holder will therefore play a key role in ensuring that private services continue to reflect the Trust's values and clinical standards whilst delivering an outstanding experience for private patients and supporting the strategic development of the service.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide visible clinical leadership and professional support to the Midwifery Practice Lead for Westminster Maternity Suite and the Women's Health Nurse Lead for Wimpole Street. As an experienced senior midwife, they will work in close partnership with the Head of Gynaecology Nursing and other senior nursing colleagues to ensure robust professional nursing leadership, governance, education and competency frameworks across private gynaecology services. Dual registration as both a Midwife and Registered Nurse would be advantageous but is not essential.

Participation in the maternity senior on call rota and work as part of the midwifery senior team.

## Person Specification

### Previous experience

**Essential**

- Post registration experience in all areas of midwifery practice
- Broad clinical experience relevant to the post.
- A proven track record of operational service management at a senior level B7 or above in acute hospital environment, including staff management, financial management and change management.

- High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
- Strong sense of commitment to openness, honesty and integrity in undertaking the role.

### Education/ Qualifications

- NMC Registered Midwife
- Degree in midwifery or other relevant Degree

- Masters Degree (health of leadership related)

- Must be able to practice in all area’s in accordance with the Midwives Rules and Codes of Conduct
- Demonstrable previous success in leading and delivering change and performance with and through clinical teams, by engaging them in the strategic direction and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback
- Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
- Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands.
- A strong sense of personal and team accountability coupled with a clear understanding of the boundaries around delegated authority
- Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working;
- A good understanding of private obstetric and gynaecology services
- Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and have them understand the Trust’s and your performance expectations
