### Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to provide clinical and operational leadership for the Community Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU) at St Margaret’s Hospital, Epping.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary service providing safe, effective and compassionate care to patients within West Essex. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the unit, including quality and safety, workforce, performance, finance and service development.

Applicants must be a registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with significant leadership experience and evidence of master’s-level study.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

- Provide clinical and operational leadership for CATU.
- Ensure patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care.
- Lead and support the multidisciplinary team.
- Manage staffing, resources, budgets and operational performance.
- Lead daily MDT discussions and support effective admission, discharge and length-of-stay management.
- Monitor standards of care through audit, governance and shared learning.
- Lead service improvement and develop new approaches to patient care.
- Manage complaints, incidents and areas of clinical risk.
- Work closely with acute, community, primary care and system partners.
- Lead the delivery and governance of resuscitation practice, training, equipment assurance and compliance.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management and leadership of CATU, ensuring that the service meets required standards for quality, safety, activity, workforce and finance.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing visible and credible clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintaining high standards of patient care, experience and clinical practice.
- Leading daily MDT meetings and supporting timely assessment, treatment and discharge planning.
- Overseeing admission processes, service utilisation and length-of-stay management.
- Managing staffing levels, recruitment, supervision, appraisals, attendance and staff development
- Managing the delegated budget and ensuring the effective use of available resources.
- Monitoring performance against agreed objectives and taking action where improvement is required.
- Leading clinical audit, quality improvement and the implementation of learning from incidents, complaints and patient feedback.
- Ensuring compliance with infection prevention, safeguarding, risk management and clinical governance requirements.
- Developing effective working relationships with patients, carers, commissioners and health and social care partners.
- Supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures and new models of care.
- Acting as a clinical supervisor, coach and mentor to members of the team.
- Providing leadership for resuscitation practice, including training, audit, equipment assurance and compliance with national guidance.
- Maintaining professional registration, clinical competence and continuing professional development.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Significant experience of managing a large multi-disciplinary team of health and ideally social care staff
- Senior level clinical knowledge in community unplanned/urgent care
- Possess extensive working knowledge of Primary and Community services
- Management of change

**Desirable**

- Budget and resource management skills

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience within a community assessment unit, community inpatient service, frailty service or urgent care setting.
- Experience of working with multiple agencies or service providers on a range of patient care issues
- Experience of managing complex staffing issues, including attendance, performance and capability.
- Ability to analyse performance information and use it to improve service delivery.

**Desirable**

- Experience of improving patient flow, including admission, discharge and length-of-stay management.

### Education/Qualifications

**Essential**

- Evidence of master's level of study
- Registered with a clinical registration body
