At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic maternity support worker to join our team at Royal Stoke within Antenatal Clinic and Fetal Medicine Department.  Whilst this role will predominantly be based at Royal Stoke there will be the requirement for some cross site working at County Hospital, Stafford.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within acute services, have GCSE Maths and English  at Grade C/4 (or equivalent) and hold a Care Certificate OR  have an NVQ level 3 or above in a health based subject.

### Main duties of the job

The primary role of the Maternity Support Worker (MSW) is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to women cantered care.

The role of the MSW will be to support and cover in all areas of Antenatal Clinic, this including the Fetal Medicine Department and Screening Department.

The midwife is ultimately responsible for the care of the mother and her new-born(s), and it is under the direct or indirect supervision of the midwife that the MSW  provides personal care following completion of any relevant or appropriate training. The post is rotational and the employee will be provided with appropriate training for the clinical setting in which they are working. These settings include antenatal inpatient or outpatient care, intrapartum inpatient care and postnatal inpatient and outpatient care.

The post holder is expected to undertake a set of defined competencies. Support will be given to employees to further develop their skills and explore pathways for progression where appropriate. ### Education

**Essential**

- GCSE Maths and English / Functional Skills Maths and English Level 1 or equivalent
- Full Care Certificate or willingness to work towards
- NVQ Level 3 (equivalent or higher) in health and social care or health related subject or willingness to work towards

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- 12 Months Experience in a professional Contract as a Healthcare Assistant or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Experience working within the acute setting
