### Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Specialist Midwifery Team.

The overall purpose of this role is to:-

- To support the provision of a safe and effective maternity specialist failsafe service.
- The post holder will support the diabetes and maternal medicine specialist services to develop and maintain risk stratification procedures in relation to patient pathways and follow up requirements.
- To work within the MDT and provide expertise in the proactive management of diabetic and maternal medicine pathways from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly.
- The post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction be being an accessible, customer focused and knowledgeable point of contact.

You would be working part time, standard office days and times.

### Main duties of the job

To be first point of contact in the receipt and acknowledgment of referrals and ensure all diabetic and maternal medicine referrals are booked into the correct clinic slots in the appropriate time

Responsibility for checking the quality of data entered onto the failsafe systems and filing systems, to ensure that all national standards are maintained and reportable

Support the Maternal Medicine Midwife, Diabetic Midwife with data collection, outcomes and reporting

Update appropriate systems to ensure that relevant national records and audits are monitored.

To assess the need to contact individual patients and coordinate completion of any outstanding appointments

Track all new and follow up patients to provide assurance that appointments are received and attended within clinically led times

Escalate any capacity issues to the team leader to ensure that patient care is not postponed or compromised. Ensure any breaches are escalated to the team leader.

Notify any DNA’s to the relevant member of staff

Work with medical records and outpatients administration to reschedule outpatients clinics as requested

To ensure appointments are in line with the trust access policy inclusive of guidelines, highlighting and escalating issues and taking corrective action where necessary

To deal with concerns/complaints as appropriate, immediately escalating where necessary to the appropriate direct line of reporting

## Person Specification

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working within an NHS administration and/or health environment
- Experience in using word processing, spreadsheets and database packages

**Desirable**

- Experience of working within a maternity, administration or failsafe setting

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- NVQ Level 2 in a subject relevant to failsafe role
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above/grade 4 or above) or equivalent such as functional skills level 2

**Desirable**

- NVQ Level 3 in a subject relevant to failsafe role
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Competent user of NHS/Health IT and clinical systems such as K2
