The Trust provides maternity care to over 16,500 women including a homebirth service on all 3 maternity sites. Our client group includes many women with complex clinical conditions. To support our care of both mum and baby we have a Level 3 Neonatal Unit situated at the Royal London Site, a level 2 Neonatal Unit situated at the Newham Site and we have excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine. In addition, we have two co-located Birth Centre’s. ### Main duties of the job

To support women and their families as directed by midwives or other trained staff. Reports area of concern to the appropriate midwife. Order and distributes snack boxes for women/birthing people. Offers support to breastfeeding women. Collect urine specimens for routine ward testing and MSU/CSU. Removes catheters and IV Cannulas. Takes blood samples for testing as directed by trained clinician Monitors and records BP, Pulse, Temperature and blood sugar level and escalates any deviation from the norm. Maintenance of observation charts including fluid balance charts. Strip, disinfecting and making up couches and as required. Assist in cleaning and supplies of equipment. Escalates, reports and logs any broken/damaged equipment. Assist in an emergency situation e.g. running for equipment or blood. Ensure equipment is available, properly maintained and prepared for use. Maintain at all times a safe and clean environment Assist in stock control as directed and also restocking Receive and care for specimens ensuring that they are properly labelled and all documentation correctly completed. To assist midwives in completing live excel Triage Tracker under supervision of trained midwives. Ensuring TAC cards are printed in colour and stocked. To contribute, under the direction of the trained practitioners, to the provision of the highest possible standards of patient care, working only within the definitions of the roles as laid down in departmental policies and procedures.

### Experience

- Previous experience in a care setting
