The post holder will work as part of the Breast Imaging team, delivering a high-quality mammography service across screening and symptomatic pathways.

The role is suitable for a qualified Band 6 Mammographer working autonomously, or a trainee mammographer undertaking supervised practice while completing an accredited training programme.

You will perform a range of mammography examinations in line with national standards, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images and excellent patient care. You will adapt techniques to meet individual patient needs, including more complex cases, and support interventional procedures where appropriate.

A key part of the role is providing compassionate, patient-centred care. You will communicate effectively with patients, many of whom may feel anxious or distressed, ensuring dignity, privacy, and informed consent at all times.

You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of quality and safety, complying with relevant legislation (including IR(ME)R), and participating in quality assurance, audit, and service improvement activities.

The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the effective running of the service. You will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Trainees will be supported to complete a recognised postgraduate mammography qualification, while qualified staff will contribute to supervision, training, and ongoing service development.

**Essential**

- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, (written and verbal), including the ability to deal with highly sensitive information and to deal with anxious and demanding clients/patients using tact, diplomatic and persuasive skills in order to obtain co-operation
- Demonstrate good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure in an unpredictable environment, maintaining a calm & professional manner

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrate a high level of theoretical knowledge including knowledge of the current Ionising Radiation Regulations
- Awareness of NHS targets that affect Breast Imaging
- Comprehensive knowledge of current issues and the development of the profession and contemporary issues
- High professional/radiographic standards with attention to detail
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
- Flexible approach to working practice
- Self-Motivated

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant experience in a hospital setting
- Must have a working Knowledge of IR(ME)R and Health and Safety Regulations.

**Desirable**

- Post graduate training and work experience in Mammography
- Experience in supervision and training of less experienced radiographers, students and departmental staff
- Experience of the daily management of a defined work area

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- BSc(Hons) Radiography or equivalent
- Current HCPC registration
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in line with personal development plan

**Desirable**

- UK Post Graduate qualification in Mammography
- Demonstrate knowledge of QA in Mammography
- Evidence of CPD
