An exciting opportunity has arisen for a two Major Trauma Rehabilitation Coordinators, within our Major Trauma Service at the Cambridge Major Trauma Centre to cover maternity leave.

We are looking for passionate and experienced physiotherapists to facilitate and coordinate the rehabilitation of patients on the major trauma pathway. Major Trauma patients are complex with multidisciplinary needs and can require specialist and non-specialist rehabilitation input. We required dynamic individuals that can coordinate and provide the holistic approach from admission right through to rehabilitation and onward journey.

You must be organised and methodical, work effectively within the wider multidisciplinary teams and be able to use your own initiative and clinical judgement to support decision making and ensuring timely care is provided through the trauma rehabilitation pathway.

Navigating the complexity of the care and rehabilitation pathways for these major trauma patients makes this role very exciting, with capacity for innovation, service development projects and working in the ever-evolving Major Trauma Service at the Major Trauma Centre. We require individuals with equal knowledge and skills to drive excellent patient care forward and be a true patient advocate.

The two posts are a 12 month secondment / fixed term posts to cover maternity leave.

### Main duties of the job

Working within the Major Trauma Service, you will be responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the major trauma rehabilitation pathway, across the Major Trauma Centre, linking in with relevant professionals across the Major Trauma Centre and the Major Trauma Network.

Working closely with the wider Major Trauma Service multi-disciplinary team, and the wider MTC Major Trauma Rehabilitation Consultant team, in patient therapy teams identify the projected on-going specialist and non-specialist rehabilitation needs for major trauma patients at an early stage of admission and support the onward pathway planning and post discharge follows-up.

Working with the in-patient therapy teams and Rehabilitation Consultant team coordinate each element of in-patient transitions of rehabilitation care between clinical and therapy teams and coordinating each phase from in-patient to outpatient’s follow-ups.

Ensure all major trauma patients have a completed rehabilitation prescription in line with national standards and Best Practice Tariff targets, ensuring onward plans and goals are articulated to onward acute providers or community teams. Ensure the process and completion is coordinated and the Rehabilitation Prescription is verified prior to the patient discharge.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October 2026 will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

As there is a 12-week probationary period, successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.

Please note:- Internal applicants on permanent contracts can apply for this post as a secondment or fixed term contract. For secondments you must have the approval of your line manager before applying. - Complete comprehensive therapy assessments and treatments for complex major trauma patients using clinical reasoning skills
- Organisational abilities to manage own caseload with autonomy
- Ability to communicate at a senior level using clear and concise verbal and non-verbal methods

- Ability to encourage and motivate others to establish and work towards common outcomes and goals

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Understanding of evidence-based practice
- Understanding of Clinical Governance.
- Understand of patient pathways its complexities and how to support the patient through this.
- Understanding of rehabilitation services in the EoE, including referral pathways for onward placements
- Ability to assess complex information, formulate a diagnosis and plan patient management using clinical reasoning skills and a range of treatment options.
- Ability to solve problems within the team and make decisions where there are a range of options including clinical and strategic issues
- Assess and manage risk in own area.
- Evaluation of clinical and non-clinical interventions of self and your team
- Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation pathways and services in the East of England.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered professional of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or equivalent (if physiotherapist)
- Member of the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
- At least one relevant post registration course
- Proven CPD relevant to the assessment process/ clinical area complex patient group
- Teaching Qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of continuous professional development.

- Research Module
- Post registration qualification in speciality
- Master’s Degree (Level 7).
