We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to join the Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team, in supporting patients diagnosed or treated with Lung Cancer within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

You will work within a team of seven specialist nurses, one cancer support worker as well as with the multidisciplinary team within the service in providing holistic personalised care with individuals living with & beyond cancer.

### Main duties of the job

- A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at an enhanced level within a specific area of practice. They assess, manage, deliver care, advice on, and support patients.
- CNSs have the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, acting as a skilled advisor for patients, or a resource for others.
- As part of the multidisciplinary team, CNSs can work in or across many settings, depending on their area of expertise and scope of practice.
- Cancer CNSs deliver personalised care in line with NHS cancer plan, using holistic needs assessment (HNA) to meet changing needs.
- Cancer CNSs ensure that people affected by cancer have access to the range of cancer resources and services available to them, receive appropriately timed information and support and have access to a CNS throughout their entire cancer journey from diagnosis, through treatment to Living with and Beyond Cancer or end of life care.
- Cancer CNSs actively engage with the cancer management team, the wider trust, RM Partners cancer alliance and other stakeholders as appropriate to continuously raise the profile of cancer nursing, promote patient centred services for patients affected by cancer, contribute to cancer care within their speciality and ensure high quality cancer care.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Substantial post registration experience, including working at band 6 or above.
- Relevant nursing experience within or related to speciality
- Experience of teaching and mentoring others
- Experience of multidisciplinary working and working under supervision to deliver expert care.

**Desirable**

- Experience of leading and managing
- Experience of audit and service development

### Education/ qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC registration and a degree in related subject.
- Post registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject Cancer.
- Recognised teaching qualification or demonstrable teaching experience.

**Desirable**

- Advanced Communication course or Level 2 psychological skills training.
- Masters level learning
