### Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in lung cancer to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the lung cancer pathway. The role will focus on providing expert nursing care and support to patients with suspected or diagnosed lung cancer throughout their treatment pathway. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will coordinate care, provide clinical advice and symptom management, support patients and families, and help ensure timely, high-quality, patient-centred care. The role also includes contributing to service development, education, and quality improvement initiatives.

### Main duties of the job

- Manage a specialist patient caseload, delivering an effective, patient-centred service that is responsive to the needs of both service users and providers.
- Undertake specialist nursing assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care
- Provide expert clinical advice, symptom management, and ongoing support for patients and families
- Coordinate care within the multidisciplinary team, supporting timely diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning
- Act as key worker, ensuring effective communication between patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
- Provide education, information, and support to empower patients to self-manage their care, and promote relevant health education and health promotion programmes across the service.
- Act as patient advocate, ensuring high standards of care and supporting informed decision-making
- Participate in Trust-wide working, including cross-site cover when required
- Ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of resources, with robust governance and management arrangements in place.
- Work within national policy frameworks relevant to the service and trust local guidance.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and implementation of service changes
