This post requires a minimum of 2 years cancer or respiratory nursing experience. The lung cancer clinical nurse specialist team play a vital role,  delivering high quality, compassionate care in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with suspected and confirmed lung cancer from the local and regional areas. The post holder reports to the lead lung cancer clinical nurse specialist and works in close collaboration with respiratory physicians, thoracic surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and allied health care professionals. The role involves close teamwork within the lung cancer clinical nursing team and liaison with wider hospital and community services to ensure seamless, holistic care for patients and their families. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities We are looking for a Registered Adult Nurse with experience in lung cancer care and a background in either respiratory medicine, oncology or surgery, with the ability to provide expert clinical, emotional, and informational support to patients across the lung cancer pathway. We will be looking for strong evidence of advanced communication, assessment, and coordination skills to support patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care. You will have the ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to the lung cancer clinical nurse specialist team, supporting service priorities and organisational quality and safety objectives. You will have an awareness and understanding of wider Trust pressures, including demand management, performance targets, and service improvement priorities, with the ability to work proactively and flexibly within these constraints. -An integral part of the role will be to communicate to patients in a way that empowers them to make informed choices about their health and treatment. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the role will include the management of a patient caseload, acting as a key worker and advocating for lung cancer patients from the point of accessing the lung cancer pathway, through to diagnosis, treatment, follow up and survivorship. The service currently operates Monday to Friday and the team work to a rota to ensure the service needs are met. You will be working alongside a team of lung cancer clinical nurse specialists bands 6-8, lung cancer operations co-ordinators and Cancer Support Worker's.
