Hours – 37.5 following 9 week rota based with the on-site team

### Main duties of the job

Ensure collection and delivery of goods, food, waste including clinical waste throughout the Trust is removed and disposed of following strict policy and standard operating practices over the 24/7 period Our team is responsible for replacing medical gas cylinders removing the empty ones in various areas of the Trust and ensuring safe transportation and storage procedures are followed We have daily Pharmacy, Pathology and various other stock/top up and collection runs to perform during the course of the working day, which may include handling blood and other sample products in sealed containers There may be a requirement to support the offsite Logistics teams in delivering and collecting from GP’s and clinics in the local area. To aid this it is essential that you hold a current UK driving licence and would be advantageous if you had a driver Certificate of Professional Competence, and category C1 If successful at the shortlist stage you will be required as part of the interview process to take part in a practical assessment, short reading and writing test to assess your ability to read and retain information given to you The successful candidate will also need to undertake a driving assessment. You should also note that any offer of employment will be subject to the Trust terms and conditions along with the satisfactory completion of a driving assessment and you must complete a satisfactory driving assessment each year to retain your employment in this role

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic, physically fit individual who is capable of moving and handling goods of varying sizes, shapes and weights and who is also capable of walking quite a few miles in a day, every day to join our busy team who work across 24/7. The purpose of our team is to actively support all Logistical aspects of our busy Acute Teaching Hospitals and of supporting our NHS colleagues out in the community. We are a very busy department providing logistical movements of goods, including postal service on site, across sites and around the East Lancashire area with the very occasional Patient transport duty off site. You will be based as per this advert however you may be required to work from any of the ELHT sites.

## Person Specification

### Essential

**Essential**

- Proven knowledge of the local geographical area (East Lancashire area) and can follow a map/directions
- Full UK driving Licence with no more than 3 points
- GCSE English at grade C/ 4 or above or equivalent qualification.
- Proven ability of multi deliveries or collections on a commercial or health care basis or similar basis
- Able to pass an up to date highway code test

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of using a two-way radio communication system
- Driving Licence with C1 & D1
- Experience of towing a trailer
- Hold a clean driving licence

### work skills

**Essential**

- Confident at dealing with people over the telephone and face to face
- High standards of accuracy
- Able to manage more than one task at once

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of working with members of the public
- To hold a driver CPC or be willing to work towards gaining this
