## Job Content

### Job overview

West London Children’s Healthcare (WLCH) are pleased to invite applications for one full time (10PA) Locum Paediatric Dermatologist post based on the Imperial campuses.

On 1st April 2022, paediatric and child health services across Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust came together under a single and integrated governance and leadership structure creating WLCH.

We have an ambitious vision to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people across West London through collaboration of clinical teams and by building stronger, equitable common care pathways with close links to research and education colleagues at Imperial College.

WLCH runs paediatric services from four sites, St Mary’s Hospital/Hammersmith Hospital (SMH/HH), Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, West Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospital. In addition, we are working in partnership with other acute providers in NWL and with our partners in community, mental health, local borough and voluntary sector services to improve care for all children and young people.

St Mary’s Hospital is a major undergraduate teaching hospital. The Paediatric Department is a large department combining both local, acute, paediatric intensive care, community paediatrics and tertiary paediatric specialities with a wide range of outpatient activities based at St. Mary’s and Hammersmith Hospitals. The inpatient wards are located on 7th floor at St. Mary’s site.

### Main duties of the job

Clinical duties include the delivery of outpatient general dermatology clinics, provision of specialist clinical advice (including triage), and assessment and management of inpatients on the paediatric wards and Paediatric Short Stay Unit (PSSU).

Clinical Training and Support

The post holder will provide clinical training and support for residents and the nursing team; and will receive support from experienced consultants in general paediatrics, emergency medicine, critical care and safeguarding.

Research, Teaching and Training, Governance, Operational Efficiency

Research: This post holder will be expected to actively support and to contribute to the research program of the Division particularly in the area of clinical based trials and provide high quality teaching. Consultants are encouraged to liaise with their managerial and clinical colleagues to resolve operational issues.

All consultants participate actively in the Quality and Safety Program including the audit program, clinical risk management, clinical incident reporting, audit and guideline and policy development.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will share responsibility with consultant colleagues to:

- Provide a service to designated hospitals, ensuring the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness while promoting health.
- Maintain ongoing responsibility for patient care in collaboration with consultant colleagues and ensure departmental efficiency in line with the Operational Policy and Strategic Plan.
- Clinically supervise and train junior surgical staff while on service.
- Engage in clinical governance, audit, research, and education within paediatrics.
