Applications are invited from a suitably qualified pathologist, for the post of Locum Consultant Histopathologist specialising in Gynaecological Pathology. This post is based at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

### Main duties of the job

The Department of Cellular Pathology at Birmingham Women’s Hospital provides specialist gynaecological pathology services to the Birmingham Women’s Hospital NHS Trust, which is a Cancer Unit, and to the Regional Gynaecological Cancer Centre at Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital, which is part of the Pan-Birmingham Cancer Network. The applicant must have some experience in gynaecological pathology and will join a team of 3 consultant gynaecological pathologists and a Consultant Biomedical Scientist to deliver this specialist service. The post-holder is expected to attend multidisciplinary team meetings, and participate in relevant EQA schemes, CPD, departmental educational activities and the regional pathology training programme.

Applicants should have, or be eligible for full registration with the GMC, possess FRCPath or equivalent, and be included on the Specialist Register (Histopathology) or, if in training, eligible for inclusion on the Register within 6 months.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- Comprehensive training and experience in Histopathology.
- Experience in gynaecological pathology
