Spring ward is a 15-bedded female medium secure ward at River House, Bethlem Royal Hospital. It provides inpatient secure care to women from south London.

A locum consultant is required from August 2026 until November 2026.

This post is 8 PAs (30 hours) and includes 2.0 SPAs. There will also be a request to join the on-call forensic consultant rota (circa 1 in 13), paid at an additional 1%.

## Person Specification

### Essential

**Essential**

- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
- Full Member or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification
- CCT in Forensic Psychiatry
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Ability to work in and lead team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty

**Desirable**

- Participation in Medical Audit and Quality Assurance
- Publications accepted by peer review journals in the field of forensic or rehabilitation psychiatry
- Training in violence risk assessment
- Formal training in effective psychological therapies
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Experience in other relevant specialties such as learning disability or addictions
