The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, would like to appoint a Locum Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon to join a dynamic team of consultant Foot & Ankle surgeons.

We have a vacancy in the F&A team for a locum consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery.  The appointee will be expected to work flexibly within the F&A team and participate in the multi-disciplinary team in the management of patients with complex orthopaedic problems.

They maybe expected to participate in the on-call rota.

### Main duties of the job

We are seeking a  locum consultant to join our existing enthusiastic and experienced team of foot and ankle surgeons.

The Foot & Ankle team are involved in many innovative initiatives to enhance the provision of foot and ankle surgery and to continue to work closely with academic colleagues to build the evidence base for orthopaedic procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive university hospital environment.

You must be fully registered with the GMC/GDC and hold Licence to Practice.

## Person Specification

### GMC

**Essential**

- Full GMC registration and licence to practise

### Experience

**Essential**

- General training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery to specialist level or equivalent
- Evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level
- Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Excellent leadership skills. Evidence of ability to lead a clinical team at the level of a consultant in a teaching hospital
- Effective administrative and time management skills. Training in clinical management. Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS
- Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork within a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic IT skills
- Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees and of routine clinical audit.
- Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, clinical risk management and clinical audit activities

**Desirable**

- Evidence of involvement in clinical management and participation in Clinical Governance
- Evidence of experience with electronic patient record and database administration and management
- Experience as tutor/clinical supervisor to students/junior medical staff
- Peer reviewed publications Research grants
- Access to transport

### Qualifications/Training

**Essential**

- FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent
- General training in Orthopaedics including Foot & Ankle
- 12 months Fellowship in Foot and Ankle

**Desirable**

- Higher medical degree
- CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery OR on GMC Specialist Register in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery OR within six months of achieving CCT at time of interview
