We are looking to appoint a part time 8 PA, Locum Consultant (Medical or Clinical) Oncologist for 12 months commencing from  September 2026 in Breast Cancer to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Weston Park Cancer Centre, with outreach clinics within the SYBND cancer alliance.

### Main duties of the job

The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues be responsible for the provision of cancer services across the above mentioned disease sites.

The appointee will join established multidisciplinary teams for these cancers.

Successful candidates will be expected to participate in our acute oncology and on-call services rota which currently equates to 0.11 PA.    The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.

## Person Specification

### Research

**Essential**

- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate

**Desirable**

- Publications in Peer reviewed journals.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- FRCR (or equivalent) – For Clinical Oncologist

**Desirable**

- MD or PhD or equivalent
- Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion or Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Extensive training and broad experience in Medical or Clinical Oncology.
- Previous experience in the management of the site specific cancers applied for.
- Awareness of new developments in the specialty with the ability to assess critically the impact of these on the service
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner.

**Essential**

- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values
- Ensures value for money is considered in all that they do
- Good time management skills
- Good oral and written communication skills

### Teaching and Training

**Essential**

- Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels

### Clinical governance and audit

**Essential**

- Experience in performing clinical audit

**Desirable**

- Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project

### Management and Administration

**Essential**

- Evidence of the understanding of the systems and structures of NHS Management

### Continuous Professional Development

**Essential**

- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months of employment

**Desirable**

- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
