An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trust as a locum Consultant Medical Oncologist 1 year Maternity cover for breast and lung cancer .

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest Trusts in London with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence and world-class care. In January 2025, the Royal Free London and North Middlesex University Hospitals Trusts merged, and we now deliver care to over 2 million people a year through our four main health units. There are chemotherapy infusion suites to treat cancer patients at The Royal Free, Finchley Memorial, North Middlesex and Chase Farm health units whilst radiotherapy is delivered at the Royal Free and North Middlesex health units.

The Trust is one of the highest volume providers of breast and lung cancer care within London.

### Main duties of the job

The post-holder will join the oncology team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) as an 8PA locum consultant in breast and lung cancer. The post will be working at The Royal Free and Barnet health units. The successful candidate will join an existing multi-disciplinary team in breast and lung cancer. The post holder will support the delivery of systemic therapy in breast cancer at Royal Free and lung cancer at Barnet hospital. Additionally, the position had the opportunity to lead the AOS service at Barnet hospital.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
- Leadership skills and the ability to take forward service developments
- The highest ethical and professional standards in research, education and clinical practice
- Member of a medical defence union
- Knowledge of the Clinical Governance Framework of the NHS (including research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management of structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters

**Desirable**

- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Good command of written and spoken English
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of resource and budgetary management within the NHS

### Royal Free shared commitments

**Essential**

- - Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust shared commitments.

### Education and Professional Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians
- Accreditation by the RCP or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or equivalent) at time of interview
- Eligible for GMC registration and entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in the area of Medical Oncology
- Experience of breast, lung and acute oncology
- Experience and an interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

**Desirable**

- Experience and commitment to multi-disciplinary working
- Wide experience in oncology
- Clinical audit experience
