The Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department works across three sites: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Good Hope Hospital (GHH) and Solihull Hospital (SH). The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns & plastics and has the largest solid organ transplantation program in Europe. The maxillofacial Unit is a regional centre for Head and Neck Cancer, Cleft, Craniofacial and Skull Base Surgery. There are close working relationships with ENT and Plastics. This is a 1-year fixed-term locum consultant post. The appointee will be expected to support the Maxillofacial unit by assisting in all aspects for recovery of services. During the fixed term appointment there will be the opportunity to have access to our specialist team with skills in orthognathic surgery, oral surgery and trauma. The job plan will include a commitment to clinic and theatre as well as an expectation for on-call cover on a 1-13 rota. Time will be given for admin and supporting professional activities. We welcome individuals who follow the ethos of our department and are eager to deliver high quality care to our diverse population. ### Main duties of the job The appointee will be involved in running clinics and theatres at Queen Elizabeth, City Hospital. The appointee with be responsible for supporting the orthognathic surgery service, as well as more routine oral surgery commitments at City Hospital/Solihull Hospital. The appointee will be expected to attend multidisciplinary orthognathic clinics at Birmingham Dental Hospital & Good Hope Hospital on a monthly basis.
