We are looking for a Full Time (10PA) Consultant Urological Surgeon who is experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Urology Department. This is a pivotal role designed to enhance and expand our Specialist Services in Andrology and Paediatric Surgery.

We are particularly keen to appoint a surgeon with expertise in Andrology and Paediatric Urology.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and developing high-quality, specialist care for Andrological Surgery and Paediatric Urology.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and developing high-quality, specialist care for Andrological Surgery and Paediatric Urology.

This role is central to the Trust’s aim of long term plan of developing Andrological surgery and maintaining Paediatric Urology service, contributing to elective and emergency patient pathways, specialist outpatient clinics and the full range of surgical options for Andrological Surgery, while also playing a key role in shaping future service models and clinical governance in Paediatric Urology work in the department.

Key duties will be running and supervising operating lists, developing specialist Andrology clinics, specialist paediatric clinics, on call cover and ward rounds.

Care for patients on wards in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including junior doctors, ward nurses and specialist nursing teams.

The may be scopes for working in collaboration with Paediatric Surgery Service at Royal London Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust.

The unit is very active in research, quality improvements and audit and the post holder will be expected to fully participate in this activity.

### Teaching

**Essential**

- Commitment to medical education

**Desirable**

- Good understanding of the training curriculum of specialty registrars / core surgical training
- Experience in running teaching programme in surgical trainees

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Widespread broad based knowledge of all aspects of Urological surgery

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MB BS, or equivalent
- FRCS (Urol) or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Additional qualification / Higher degree, e.g. BSc / MD / PhD

### Personal Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent presentational and verbal skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop medical trainees.
- Ability to manage time well to deliver objectives of the CAG
- Awareness of best practice through evidence-based medicine, and personal drive to enact the change with the team

**Desirable**

- IT skills and computer literacy
- Experience in leadership roles in a multidisciplinary environment

- Higher Specialist Training in Urological Surgery.
- Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates
- Experience in general urology and urological cancer diagnostics
- Experience in Specialist Andrology Unit / surgery

- Ability to demonstrate personal experience of clinical research and describe and discuss findings and impact.

### Research / Publications

- Experience of research, presentations to learned societies on topics related to surgery
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical/surgical problems
- Demonstrate number of first name publications in indexed journals, over a variety of subjects relevant to this post
