### Job overview

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in High Risk Obstetrics. This post is for a fixed term for the period of 6 months where the successful applicant would join a team of 15 consultant obstetricians to provide antenatal care, high risk intrapartum care and postnatal care.

The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust are now working in partnership as the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group.

All future senior medical and dental appointments will be expected to work in collaboration across the Group and, irrespective of initial job description and job plan, be willing to work on more than one hospital site, dependent on service needs. Service location may change as our future models of care are developed by our clinically led networks through our acute clinical strategy. Some of the clinical procedures or services the appointee will be expected to deliver may be based at sites other than their primary site of employment.

### Main duties of the job

The post is suited to a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has completed their training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The successful applicant would join a team of 15 consultant Obstetricians (13.6 WTE) delivering high risk antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. This post covers general antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal obstetric care, and consultant labour ward presence will be covered by 14 consultants with resident cover for approximately 100 hours per week. There is separate consultant on call cover for gynaecology.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Exhibits and has references confirming progressive acquisition of knowledge specific to career goals.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice
- PLAB or equivalent
- MRCOG or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Post-graduate degree (MD, PhD)
- ATSM Advanced Labour Ward Practice
- ATSM Advanced antenatal practice
- ATSM Labour ward lead

### Personal Attributes

**Essential**

- Is willing, able and has the skill to collate and record information and communicate in writing with other professionals.

**Desirable**

- Previous responsibility for service improvement projects

### Clinical Training and Experience

**Essential**

- Extensive obstetric experience able to perform all roles in the JD
- Experience dealing with complex antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
- Overseas applicants to show equivalent to the 7 years training period in the NHS required for the specialty

**Desirable**

- Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest
- Experience in obstetric training e.g. MOET or PPROMPT instructor
- Experience in risk management with demonstration of involvement in investigations of Obstetric Incidents
