The Neurology Department provides comprehensive adult neurological care for both emergency and elective work. This includes an inpatient Neurology ward (Charing Cross), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), a planned Neurological Treatment Unit (NTU), an Acute Neurology service, a wide range of sub-speciality outpatient clinics and a number of Multi-disciplinary team meetings. The post will be for a fixed term Neurology consultant position for 6 months, and will be based at Charing Cross Hospital. It will comprise 6.5 direct clinical care PAs (DCC’s) and 1 supporting professional activities (SPA). ### Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be expected to deliver 3 general neurology clinics per week. These clinics will cover general neurology and a new SDEC neurology service at Charing Cross Hospital. This post does not include on-call duties. This is a less than full time position, delivering 7.5 PA’s of consultant activity (6.5 DCC’s and 1 SPA); fixed term for 6 months. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post will be for a fixed term of 6 months, and will be based across ICHT sites. It will comprise 6.5 direct clinical care PAs (DCC’s) and 1 supporting professional activities (SPA). The DCC will comprise the delivery of 3 outpatient clinics – including general neurology and HOT/SDEC clinics. The Work of the Department The Neurology Department provides comprehensive adult neurological care for both emergency and elective work. This includes an inpatient Neurology ward (Charing Cross), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), a planned Neurological Treatment Unit (NTU), an Acute Neurology service, a wide range of sub-speciality outpatient clinics and a number of Multi-disciplinary team meetings. This a large department with over 40 Consultant Neurologists linked to Imperial (based at Charing Cross, St. Mary’s or Hammersmith Hospitals), many with clinical duties at allied District General Hospitals and/or research commitments within academic departments at Imperial College. The Neurology department is complemented by the Hyperacute Stroke Unit, Neurosurgery Unit, Neuroradiology Department (with access to CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and interventional neuroradiology) and Neurophysiology Department.
