University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in General Gynaecology (10 PAs) with a special interest in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology.

Please note that the job plan included is subject to change depending on theatre and clinic space availability. The role may include Saturday operating.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual who wishes to join our well-established and dedicated team.

### Main duties of the job

The post will comprise 10 sessions each week, including outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings and surgical operating lists. The post holder will also participate in the gynaecology consultant on-call rota and should possess the required clinical skills to respond to gynaecological emergencies.

The successful applicant will join our close-knit team, founded on mutual respect and the delivery of excellence in clinical care. Exceptional interpersonal skills and team working are essential. Clinical care is delivered within a well-established clinical governance framework and our unit has a commitment to data collection, clinical audit, and clinical research.

## Person Specification

### Clinical Skills

**Essential**

- High level skills in gynaecological ultrasound and management of Early Pregnancy complications and gynaecological cancer diagnosis

**Desirable**

- Broad range of operating skills in benign gynaecology including MVA and outpatient hysteroscopy
- Independent practice in most benign and emergency gynaecological surgery.

### Clinical Knowledge

**Essential**

- Good knowledge of the aetiology, diagnosis and management of Benign gynaecological conditions and Early Pregnancy complications.

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Clinical training and experience in gynaecology equivalent to UK CCT level.
- Extensive clinical experience in early pregnancy and acute gynaecological care

**Desirable**

- Experience in running an early pregnancy / gynaecological assessment Unit
- Specialist gynaecology ultrasound training in. a tertiary level centre

### Professional Qualifications

**Essential**

- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
- Individuals should meet one of the following:
- have their CCST and be on the specialist register; or
- be within 6 months of their CCST; or
- Locally Employed Doctors, Specialty Doctors, and Specialist Grades should submit their evidence portfolio to the GMC via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) in time for approval to be on the Specialist register within six months of appointment
- MRCOG or equivalent
- RCOG ATSM/SITM in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology/ Complex Early Pregnancy and non-elective gynaecology

**Desirable**

- Higher degree (MD, PhD)
- ATSM or SITM in Gynaecological surgical care

### Research. Teaching skills & experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of commitment to education, training, and teaching

**Desirable**

- Peer review publication in the field of gynaecology or early pregnancy
- Involvement in recruitment to multicentre trials
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP)  in research certification

### Audit, Quality Improvement, Management & IT

**Essential**

- Evidence of clinical audit and quality improvement activity
- Proven leadership and management skills to support the development of the service
- Ability to adopt the use of electronic patient management systems in the care of patients
