### Job overview

Locum Consultant ENT Surgeon

Special interest in Rhinology and Otology

Full Time (10 PAs)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant ENT Surgeon to join our forward-thinking department at Whipps Cross University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity for a surgeon with equal expertise across Rhinology and Otology to help us shape and grow a balanced, high-quality service for our local population.

Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery to join the team of Consultants in the ENT department at Whipps Cross University Hospital. This is a 12 month fixed term post, offered on a full time basis of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, with the genuine potential for the post to become substantive, subject to service need and satisfactory performance.

### Main duties of the job

The post is split equally between Rhinology and Otology, and the successful candidate will be confident managing a broad general ENT caseload alongside these subspecialty interests. The post holder must be proficient in paediatric mastoidectomy and other paediatric otological procedures, septoplasty, and functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) in adults, as well as routine paediatric ENT work more broadly. Candidates with additional interests that complement our existing team are also encouraged to apply.

The post holder will deliver outpatient and theatre sessions across our sites, working closely with colleagues at Whipps Cross University Hospital, and will participate in the department's on-call rota.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork, will help develop clinical care pathways for the management of ENT patients, and will contribute to teaching, training and research within the department. Whipps Cross University Hospital holds Associate University Hospital status, and there are excellent opportunities to get involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Barts Health NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, providing care to a population of around 2.5 million people across east London and beyond. Whipps Cross University Hospital is a large general hospital in Leytonstone offering a full range of local ENT services, supported by the wider expertise and facilities of the Barts Health group.

We are committed to our WeCare values and to supporting our staff to develop their careers and interests, and we would welcome applications from candidates who share our ambition to deliver excellent, compassionate ENT care.
