This is a fixed term post available from 30 September 2026 for one year. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. ### Main duties of the job The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for: - Providing a 24/7 consultant-led Emergency Department assessment team to ensure the safe, timely and effective assessment and subsequent management of all patients attending the ED - Providing consultant opinion for all patients referred for emergency admission and attending the ED.  This will include the provision of an immediate opinion and intervention for seriously ill patients at the request of junior ED staff. - Working with our Acute Medical Team - Taking responsibility for ensuring the appropriate specialty destination for each patient and determining whether discharge home is appropriate. - The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Please refer to the supporting job description and person specification which will outline the duties of the role including an indicative job plan.
