The post will be based at the Royal London Hospital (RLH) and Mile End diabetes centre (MEH). The post will largely be a General Internal Medicine (GIM) post at RLH with 1 or 2 clinical sessions specifically within Type 1 diabetes and Antenatal Diabetes. The post holder will join the Diabetes & Metabolism team at RLH and join the current Consultant of the week rota (currently contributing 8 weeks of general medicine annually) and provide weekend on call cover for Diabetes & Metabolism and inpatients (1 in 8) as part of the commitment. The appointee will work a 4 PA job plan with seven day working incorporated into the timetable. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective and compassionate care. The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the Trust’s policy on Maintaining Medical Excellence and to be committed to maintaining their standard of performance by keeping their knowledge and skills up to date. ### Main duties of the job - Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care. - Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with the Trusts’ business plans.
