Locum Consultant in Dermatology  part time contract ( mat leave cover) 6 PAs Post Royal London Hospital We are pleased to invite applications for a Locum Consultant in Dermatology to join our supportive and forward-thinking team at Royal London Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Dermatologist with strong clinical skills, a commitment to high-quality patient care, and the ability to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and other specialties to ensure seamless patient pathways.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a commitment to be available for their allocated programmed activities each week. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the delivery of registrar as well as specialist nurse supervision. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the active dermatology research department and clinical trials unit. There is no on call requirement.

The post holder will be required to contribute to the delivery of general services, specialist services and skin cancer services within dermatology at Bart’s Health NHS trust and as part of that, provide supervision to the other clinical staff working in the department. The post holder will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. They will need to demonstrate experience in management and leadership. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput with the Clinical Lead and undertake annual appraisal and job planning as per Trust policy with revalidation on a 5-year cycle.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBS (or equivalent)
- MRCP UK (or equivalent)
- Eligible for full GMC Registration On GMC Specialist Register in Dermatology or within 6 months of attainment of CCT

**Desirable**

- Post CCT fellowship in Paediatric Dermatology

### Clinical Skills

**Essential**

- Dermatological procedures and surgery.

### Clinical Knowledge

**Essential**

- Comprehensive knowledge of general and some specialist Dermatology areas.

### Personal Qualities

**Essential**

- Communication: Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate and problem solve
- Accountability: ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority
- Interpersonal Skills High standards in patient care. Able to empathise and communicate with patients, relatives and carers. Able to work co-operatively with others to achieve organisational and personal goals

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Comprehensive clinical training in General Medical conditions, General Dermatology diagnostic and treatment procedures
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary clinics Inpatient care for those who require inpatient treatment

### Audit Management & IT

**Essential**

- Evidence of conducting and presenting clinical audit projects, attendance of dept meetings and post-graduate activities and management meetings.

**Desirable**

- Track record of delivering clinical improvement projects

### Research. Teaching skill & experience

**Essential**

- Experience of teaching medical undergraduates Understanding / knowledge of Research ethics

**Desirable**

- Attainment of MD or equivalent higher degrees
