Within this trust wide strategy Newham has established itself as a high-volume low acuity surgical hub catering for a range of specialties including elective orthopaedics in the Gateway Surgical Centre. We are seeking a Locum Anaesthetist who share our values and vision to join our team of consultants to enable this to happen. You will need to be committed and keen, able to work collaboratively with diverse groups, and be able to show leadership and integrity. As one of our Locum Anaesthetists, you will be expected to take a role within the managerial structure of the department, and you will demonstrate a commitment to education, supporting the junior staff in their professional development. Above all else you will be an excellent clinician who delivers great care to your patients. We are particularly looking for anaesthetists with a specialist interest in regional anaesthesia orthopaedic and regional anaesthesia. ### Main duties of the job - Provide safe, effective, responsive and caring anaesthetic services - Participate in the anaesthetic consultant on call rota at Newham Hospital, including paediatric and obstetric emergencies - To ensure that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, quality improvement, and evidence-based research - Participate actively in clinical governance, including reporting of incidents, undertaking learning responses, compassionate engagement, duty of candour and responding to complaints. - To be familiar with the Royal College of Anaesthetists' curriculum for Junior Doctor Training and contribute to their training requirements, including tutorials and educational supervision. - Agree a job plan with the Clinical lead in Anaesthetics and participate in a rota to deliver a consultant led service. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Newham University Hospital is a 371 bedded Acute Hospital is part of Barts Health NHS trust and serves one of Britain’s most diverse, fastest growing, and youngest populations.
