### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Newham University Hospital is a 371 bedded Acute Hospital is part of Barts Health NHS trust and serves one of Britain’s most diverse, fastest growing, and youngest populations. We are an organisation which is firmly wedded to the needs and priorities of our local population. This is demonstrated in the way services are developed, the ways in which we listen to and engage patients and local residents, and how we are shaping our social responsibility agenda as a local employer and provider of training. A borough wide clinical strategy has recently been developed in collaboration with system partners, and alongside the trust’s surgical strategy these documents will shape the development of the department.

Many local people have complex medical and social needs, and some find the way that the NHS traditionally delivers services difficult to access. Our strategy is focused on providing excellent care, specialising in meeting the needs of our community and delivering the best treatment and support as close to patients’ homes as possible in partnership with community and specialist providers.
