The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive high quality service to the department as a consultant intensivist. The Clinical Lead for Intensive Care Medicine, at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, is Dr Raza. The successful applicant will join a friendly team in a growing Intensive Care Medicine Department with 13 consultants including single speciality ICM, dual speciality ICM / Anaesthesia or ICM / Emergency Medicine Consultants. The post involves provision of regular day time ICM commitment and out of hours on call ICM consultant commitment. Luton and Dunstable hospital is located within easy access to central London and the Midlands.  London Luton Airport is within fifteen minutes’ drive from the hospital. ### Main duties of the job The appointee will join the well-established Anaesthetics Department as part of a service development plan, where we currently have a new Acute Surgical Block (ASB) Applicants must be included in the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthetics or be within six months of CCT accreditation.  The successful applicants will provide a comprehensive high quality Anaesthesia service. The Obstetric lead is Dr Rivers.  The successful applicant will join a friendly team providing the anaesthesia service for the maternity department.  Our delivery rate is 5500 per year, with anaesthetists involved in the management of around half of the patients, many of whom are high risk.  Consultants are job-planned to cover the labour ware and the elective caesarean section list each weekday.  Antenatally, there is a weekly obstetric anaesthetic clinic, a monthly MDT and monthly joint cardiac clinic. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The appointments will be subject to full Occupational Health Clearance and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for the successful candidates prior to commencement. The appointee will have Full UK MedicalDental registration  at time of application.
