Applications are invited for a full-time locum consultant gynaecologist post (Gynaecological Cancer Unit Specialist) for 12 months.

Applicants are required to have CCT or equivalent (or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview), and entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with full GMC registration and MRCOG (or equivalent).

Applicants must have the skills to perform complex gynaecological surgery and have completed the ATSM or SITM in “Gynaecological Oncology”.

In addition, there is a need in the department for the following skills: Colposcopy and Management of Vulval Disease.

### Main duties of the job

This post is developed to complement the existing consultants, expand and strengthen the skilled workforce, and meet the sustained growth of gynaecological service demands and gynaecological cancer NHS targets. Demand for gynaecology services has increased due to rising referrals, population change, and delayed care. This post will help increase capacity of gynaecological cancer services across outpatients, procedures and theatres, reducing waiting times and clinical risk.

The post-holder will be joining a dynamic and dedicated team of gynaecologists, which is committed to delivering excellent service for women. They will cover operating lists, outpatient clinics and gynaecology on-call rota at the frequency agreed by the directorate. Although there are no obstetrics commitments, the post holder is expected to support the on-call consultant obstetricians upon request. They will also have the opportunity to carry out clinical research and medical education through our strong links with the University of Birmingham and the University of Aston.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Entry on the Specialist Register in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology (or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview)
- MRCOG or equivalent

- Higher Degree
