### Job overview

You will be based predominantly at the Royal Preston Hospital and facilitate the delivery of high-quality Gastroenterology across both sites at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, with rotating in-reach provision to Chorley General Hospital.

You will join of a team of 7 Gastroenterology Consultants and participate in a return to site GI bleeding rota (1 in 7). We welcome applications from those looking to work either full time or less than full time.

### Main duties of the job

You will:

- Provide direct input to patients on the gastroenterology ward (Ward 24) at Royal Preston Hospital, provide support to resident doctors and advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs) covering ward referrals and Gastroenterology in-reach to the Emergency Department, and provide Gastroenterology in-reach to Chorley Hospital on a rotational basis
- Participate in specialty multi-disciplinary meetings, regular governance and specialty business meetings
- Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development
- Develop close links with local General Practitioners and community allied health professionals to support patient care across providers
- Support postgraduate and undergraduate education, providing endoscopy training, supervising clinics and on the ward and participating in clinical and educational supervision

### Management

**Essential**

- Evidence of Clinical Leadership
- Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP
- CCST in General Internal Medicine / Specialist Register entry within six months

**Desirable**

- MD or PhD
- Evidence of ongoing personal / professional development.

### Experience and Skills

**Essential**

- Recognised period of work in a specialist department treating upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions.
- Ability to undertake clinical audit of work and apply findings to clinical work.
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Ability to manage and lead a multi-professional team.
- IT literate

**Desirable**

- JAG accredited olonoscopist.

- Evidence of interest in personal development e.g. through research and/or publications
