### Job overview

There are many personal and professional reasons why Resident Doctors in Training in England take time out of their training, such as parental leave, research, career breaks and ill health. At any one time, it is estimated that around 10% of postgraduate doctors are out of programme.

Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) was developed to enable Resident Doctors to have a safe and confident return to their training by offering a wide range of learning and support resources, which can be used to provide a bespoke package to suit individual needs. This is beneficial not only to the individual doctor, but also the wider NHS.

NHS England East of England (NHSE EoE) are committed to offering SuppoRTT to as many eligible Resident Doctors as possible. All Resident Doctors will be treated equally regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion/belief, sex/sexual orientation and/or any other protected characteristic.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as a local champion to support return to training for all NHSE EoE recognised Resident Doctors within the Trust/Primary Care organisation.

The post holder will work with NHSE EoE to facilitate quality management of SuppoRTT, with the aim of providing high quality, equitable and a caring approach for post graduate doctors returning to training.

**Essential**

- Champions should be able to demonstrate passion and commitment to providing high quality, equitable and caring approach for postgraduate doctors returning to training
- Excellent communication skills.
- Evidence of good organisational and leadership skills
- Enthusiasm and ability to motivate and inspire others through a positive approach to supporting colleagues to return safely to the workplace.
- A ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ability to see solutions instead of barriers
- Confidence to challenge practice which does not appear to contribute to the organisation’s objectives.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full GMC with licence to practice
- Current Consultant or SAS Doctor within the Trust
