Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board provides a high-quality library and knowledge service to support evidence-based clinical practice, and the educational and information needs of all staff and students on placement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Library Technician to join our friendly team at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good organisational skills and an interest in library and information services to contribute to the delivery of a busy NHS library service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the library service, working closely with the Library Services Manager and wider team.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Providing a welcoming front-line service, assisting library users with enquiries and access to resources
- Supporting circulation activities including issuing, returning, and shelving stock
- Assisting with the maintenance of library stock, including cataloguing support, stock checks, and processing new materials
- Using the Library Management System to carry out routine tasks and maintain accurate records
- Supporting users to access electronic resources and online journals
- Assisting with document supply services, including inter-library loans and article requests
- Contributing to the display, promotion and marketing of library services
- Supporting the delivery of basic user guidance and signposting to appropriate resources
- Assisting with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the service

The role may also involve supporting activities and services for staff and students across the Health Board.

- Ability to speak Welsh
- Ability to carry out a basic evaluation of the quality/reliability of web-based information

### Qualifications and/or Knowledge

**Essential**

- Minimum 5 GCSEs grade C or above or equivalent, including English & Maths
- Relevant vocational qualification at Level 3, e.g. Library and Information NVQ or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Awareness of health & safety regulations
- Thorough knowledge of using IT software and applications e.g. Microsoft Office, including Teams.

**Desirable**

- A levels or equivalent
- ECDL
- An understanding of relevant legislation including GDPR, Data Protection and copyright
- Knowledge of the ALMA Library Management System or other Library Management System
- Knowledge of medical terminology
