An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Locally Employed Doctor (LED) - Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ST3+ equivalent) within the Maternity & Women's Services Directorate at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is aimed at doctors working at middle-grade level who are seeking to further develop their experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology outside of a formal UK training programme. The role offers an excellent opportunity to working within a busy, consultant-led service, supported by senior clinicians and a well-established multidisciplinary team, within a forward-thinking and high-performing NHS organisation.

The successful candidate will work across the full spectrum of women's healthcare, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care in antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and gynaecology settings, while providing senior clinical input and leadership appropriate to ST3+ level.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the middle-grade Obstetrics & Gynaecology medical team, providing senior clinical care across inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings with and appropriate level of autonomy.

Duties include leadership of labour ward activity during shifts, management of complex obstetric and gynaecology cases, supervision and support of junior doctors, and participating in daily ward rounds, multidisciplinary handovers and safety briefings. The post holder will be expected to recognise and manage clinical deterioration, escalating appropriately to on-call consultants in line with Trust policies.

The role includes full participation in the middle-grade Obstetrics & Gynaecology on-call rota, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will provide senior clinical input across obstetric and gynaecology services, including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, emergency gynaecology and inpatient services. They will lead and coordinate care during on-call shifts, support patient flow and safety, and contribute to teaching, supervision and mentoring of junior colleagues.

The role includes active participation in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activity. Although this is a non-training post, the post holder will be supported to develop competencies aligned to ST3+ level, including leadership, supervision and decision-making, and to maintain a professional development portfolio.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Completion of Core Training / equivalent experience
- Minimum 4 years postgraduate clinical experience
- Significant experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at middle-grade or equivalent level
- Ability to manage obstetrics and gynaecology patients with a high degree of autonomy

**Desirable**

- Previous NHS experience in a middle-grade O&G role
- Experience of labour ward leadership and emergency cover
- Experience relevant to Portfolio Pathway evidence collection

### Qualifications & Registration

- Primary medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise

- MRCOG Part 1 and/or Part 2
