### The Role

The post holder will be a core member of the Research & Development Team with a specific remit to facilitate clinical trial or non commercial research as appropriate in line with the NHS Lanarkshire and Scottish Government R&D startegies and the Chief Scientist Office recognised priority areas. The post holder will facilitate activity which is compliant with the statutory legislation and the standards required to comply with the UK policy framework for health and social care research (Ver 3.3, 07/11/2017). The post holder also has the responsibility of negotiating with local clinical teams and service departments, and with external researchers, as part of the research governance review of clinical trials and research studies, and for issuing R&D Management Approval for research to take place within NHS Lanarkshire.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 24 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

### In this key role, you will:

- Develop effective working relationships with clinical and non-clinical service areas throughout NHS Lanarkshire
- Develop effective working relationships with internal and external researchers wishing to access NHS Lanarkshire resources in respect of Research & Development Projects and support them through the management approval process.
- Advise, facilitate and support internal and external researchers undertaking projects to ensure consistency of approach and compliance with relevant legislation and strategies including the NHS Lanarkshire and Scottish Government’s R&D Strategies, the UK policy framework for health and social care research (Ver 3.3, 07/11/2017) and the EU Clinical Trials Directive.
- Carry out all governance checks on all clinical trials* and research studies submitted for approval, this can involve complex assessments of a number of factors including finance, service involvement, compliance with legislation etc. Approve and issue R&D Management Approval on behalf of NHS Lanarkshire enabling research to take place.

### What You'll Bring:

- Educated to Degree level or with equivalent research administration experience.
- Requires formal Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the UK Medicine for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations that govern the conduct of clinical trials involving medicinal products is required.
- Ability to interpret and explain the implications of the above regulations to staff involved in clinical trials of investigational medicines.
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
