Are you an enthusiastic and dynamic radiographer looking to progress into a senior leadership role? If so, we have just the post for you!

With a clear focus on quality and safety, you will be responsible, in conjunction with our other lead Radiographers for developing a 'patient first' experience within the department as we begin our journey towards QSI accreditation.

We are looking for an inspiring leader with excellent clinical skills as well as good communication and teaching abilities and experience in managing a large team.

### Main duties of the job

To ensure appropriate day to day provision of the imaging service within national timescales for diagnostic tests.

To ensure rosters are in place at all times for staff ensuring continuity of service provision. This will include contingency arrangements to ensure service resilience at all radiographic locations within NGH.

Day to day management of  Radiographers, admin & clerical staff, radiology assistants and students whilst working in the departments.

Provide clear clinical leadership for the day to day organisation of the service in accordance with professional and departmental protocols.

To carry out the full range of imaging /duties within specialised area, to a consistently high standard.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To ensure delivery of the highest standard of care possible for all patients using the service by developing and maintaining clear Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and ensuring they are adhered to within the team.

To set, maintain and monitor consistently high standards of clinical competence within the radiographic and support teams

To ensure compliance with IR(ME)R at all times within the Radiographic team.

To develop systems of work within the team to ensure the service is delivered in line with national guidance and in accordance with agreed service specifications and timescales at all times.

To monitor activity against diagnostic waiting time targets and when required

To produce reports and waiting list / waiting time information relating to the service.

To plan in advance future service capacity requirements both short, medium and long term to ensure prompt service delivery.

To ensure all activity is recorded on the departmental RIS/ PACS

To be responsible for the day to day operational supervision of the service assessing and managing workflow to utilise available resources, in liaison with other staff in the department, and in the hospital.

In the absence of other modality leads to supervise other areas of the Imaging Department ensuring those areas are working to agreed standards.

To ensure effective communication of imaging issues. This will include regular documented communication with the radiographic team in addition to communication with the senior management team within the wider Imaging Department.

To actively participate in the clinical workload of the department including participation in rotas to deliver the 24/7 service.

Provide expert clinical and professional advice regarding Imaging to the wider Imaging team.

To ensure where relevant a process is in place to validate requests against agreed protocols and referral guidelines and also to actively participate in this process.

To ensure a process is in place check patient identification and documentation, and ensure the appropriate radiographic examinations are carried out in accordance with IR(ME)R employers procedures, departmental protocols and clinical requests.

When operating equipment, assessing patient's needs adapt and modify scanning techniques according to the patient's condition. Attending to patients' welfare at all times.

To evaluate the resultant images for diagnostic quality and alert clinicians of any abnormality when appropriate and in accordance with the Imaging Departments process.

- Bsc Radiography or equivalent
- HCPC registered
