We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and innovative pharmacy technician to join us at a truly exciting time of service transformation. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing and embedding a clinically focused pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant workforce, while helping to shape new ways of working across the Trust.

As a professional role model, you will lead the development of training pathways and competency frameworks for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants, supporting workforce development, reform and evolving clinical practice. You will work closely with our clinical pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistants to strengthen their contribution to patient care, medicines optimisation and service delivery.

This role offers the scope, influence and challenge to leave a lasting legacy — designing frameworks, developing people, and embedding a culture of excellence, safety and continuous improvement.

### Main duties of the job

- Act as a professional and clinical lead for the pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant workforce, with a strong focus on supporting and developing this workforce.
- Lead the design and implementation of training pathways, competency frameworks and career development structures for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants
- Work as part of the Pharmacy leadership team to support delivery of the medicines optimisation agenda.
- Provide professional leadership, actively demonstrating integrity, ownership and visible leadership across the service and Trust.
- Support workforce transformation by enabling effective skill mix and advancing the clinical role of pharmacy technicians
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and improve clinical outcomes
- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders on the role and contribution of pharmacy technicians as a registered profession
- Ensure relevant standards, governance and best practice are embedded across all areas of practice

To enhance professional practice, education and service developments using an evidence-based approach. To use specialist expert knowledge to interpret regional and national policy pertinent to the professional role of the pharmacy technician to support accurate workforce planning and development of services. To manage the provision of all pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant training and professional development. To lead on all policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to clinical pharmacy service supporting pharmacists, other pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants in ensuring regulatory compliance with medicines regulations; providing essential support to other healthcare professionals and patients of the Trust. ## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent as recognised by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council with GPhC (with no restrictions).
- To have successfully completed the NHS England (NHSE) South East (South Coast) Medicines Management Education and Developments, Medicines Management Accreditation Scheme or equivalent.
- Completed or willing to undertake the Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) course
- To have successfully completed the NVQ A1 assessor portfolio and be eligible to assess candidates undertaking both NVQ Level II and NVQ Level III in Pharmacy Services
- Practice Supervisor and Educational Supervisor training or equivalent as recognised by NHSE

### Knowledge/Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working in a hospital or mental health pharmacy setting.
- To have a reasonable level of project management experience to articulate and develop robust project plans.
- Experience of working with different healthcare professions and managers across the wider healthcare economy
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the key stakeholders the post is likely to be supporting and how they will be expected to support them.
- Experience of managing and leading workforce and teams
- Experience of policy/guideline writing and development.
- Experience of writing and delivering training
- Leadership experience – inspiring and developing pharmacy professionals and introducing change and innovation.
- Experience of tutoring or supervising trainees and newly qualified staff
- Experience of manipulating, analysing and reporting data
- Experience of strategic planning/service development.
- Knowledge and awareness of regulation, legislation and governance relevant to medicines optimisation.
- IT competency in standard Microsoft Office packages (or equivalent) and able to quickly understand and use other IT systems
