### Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Pharmacy Team and make a difference by leading the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to our Medical division and associated clinical areas. This is a new role for our department and we are excited to expand our portfolio of Lead Pharmacist roles. You will work with medical and nursing staff to reduce medication related adverse events and formulate action plans with the division to reduce errors and risks related to the use of medicines.

A key role will be to oversee provision of accurate, evaluated information on drug expenditure for agreed medical specialties and assist medical specialty managers in making optimal use of their drug budgets.

### Main duties of the job

There will be opportunities to provide advice to medical and nursing staff on the safe, efficient use of medicines and their prescribing and administration whilst overseeing supervision and training of Pharmacy colleagues as required. You will provide input into governance issues arising within the division and advise on financial aspects of medication use. You will be involved in clinical supervision of junior pharmacists and develop an appropriate training programme to enable a range of pharmacists to contribute to pharmaceutical care in medical settings.

The successful candidate will collaborate with system partners to improve service provision and share good practice, whilst also being independent prescriber, or be working towards the role within an agreed time frame.

### Knowledge and skills

- UK Registered
- Substantial UK experience in Medicine specialty
- Evidence of team management / leadership skills
- Non medical prescriber or willing to undertake
- Evidence of effective team working

- Post graduate qualification or working towards

- Understanding of QIPP and current requirements within the NHS
