### Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our team on a fixed-term basis (12 months) to provide cover for the current Lead Pharmacist during a period of maternity leave.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate within our Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme, working collaboratively with colleagues across the Department of Clinical Microbiology, the Antimicrobial Stewardship team, and a wide range of multidisciplinary specialists involved in the management of infections.

As deputy to the Principal Pharmacist, Infection Services, you will play a pivotal role in driving the antimicrobial stewardship agenda, supporting the implementation of strategies to optimise the use of anti-infectives, and contributing to improved patient outcomes across the organisation and wider north West London Acute Programme Group.

### Main duties of the job

- To lead, deliver, develop, manage and evaluate anti-infective treatments and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives alongside the Principal Pharmacist, Infection Services and Consultant Microbiologists in accordance with appropriate Trust and Hospital objectives.
- To support the provision of a safe, efficient and cost-effective use of anti-infective treatments within the Trust.
- To provide professional leadership for, and management of the pharmacy staff working within anti-infective roles.
- To lead on providing a framework for the provision of a safe, effective and appropriate anti-infective treatments alongside the Principal Pharmacist, Infection Services.
- To be responsible for the education and training of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on anti-infective treatments and antimicrobial stewardship.
- To develop and maintain consistently high-quality pharmaceutical advice on anti-infective treatments and antimicrobial stewardship.
- To lead and be a role model, as a senior pharmacist and for antimicrobial stewardship.
- To lead on the strategic development of antimicrobial stewardship initiatives alongside the Principal Pharmacist, Infection Services and Microbiology Consultants.
- To report on anti-infective prescribing and ensure cost-effective anti-infective usage across the Trust.

### Knowledge and experience

**Essential**

- Significant clinical pharmacy experience in anti-infective treatments
- Experience of managing a small team
- Experience of identifying training needs and delivering education and training programmes for all clinical staff groups

**Desirable**

- Experience of delivering research projects and influencing changes in practice

### Education/ qualifications

**Essential**

- Master’s degree in Pharmacy
- Diploma Pharmacy Practice
- Evidence of formal management training

**Desirable**

- MSc in Clinical Pharmacy Practice

### Skills, abilities and attributes

**Essential**

- Actively seeks to improve the ward and clinical services provided to enhance quality of patient care
- Demonstrate excellent writing skills
