### Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to lead the TB services at St Georges Hospital, a tertiary TB centre in South- West London. You will work as part of a multi-professional team to ensure that patients with mycobacterial infection receive a high standard of care from initial investigations to treatment completion. The role is integral to the prevention and detection of TB in South-west London, as part of national and global strategies to reduce TB infection

The specialist nursing team consists of specialist nurses, an outreach worker and administrator, delivering several services for TB patients; nurse led clinics for patients receiving treatment for active and latent TB, screening clinics for contacts of TB (adult and paediatric), occupational health contacts, new entrant screening clinics and screening for patients prior to receiving biologic treatments. We have a rapid access clinic for patients with symptoms of active TB who are referred from the community or other tertiary services. We have dedicated clinics for multi-drug-resistant TB and NTM infections. We work with inpatient teams to support the care of inpatients on TB treatment. We are the local TB team for HMP Wandsworth to whom we provide specialist advice.

## Person Specification

### Specialist Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Competent and able unsupervised to undertake specific procedures and tasks relevant to specialist area of practice.
- in ordering X-Rays, scans and blood tests relevant to specialist area of practice. IRMER trained
- Experience in working with vulnerable groups e.g. refugees and asylum seekers, homeless people, the elderly and families with young children.
- Significant experience of working in a community setting/ public health role/ paediatrics / adults / home visiting.

**Desirable**

- Research qualification. Published material
- Excellent computer skills

### Professional/ Clinical Qualifications and Experienc

**Essential**

- Degree in nursing.
- MSC in advanced nursing practice or equivalent experience
- Recognised TB specialist course.
- Experience of leadership role. Management qualification or equivalent experience.
- Clinical reasoning and physical assessment
- Teaching/Mentoring
- Competent and able unsupervised to undertake specific procedures and tasks relevant to specialist area of practice.

**Desirable**

- Non-medical prescribing course or working towards.
- Professional leadership skills including leadership development programme
- Knowledge of HIV disease.
- Formal qualification in health promotion
