We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced pharmacist to join our expanding homecare team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated professional, with a desire to thrive, learn and innovate. Applicants should have excellent communication and organisational skills, an ability to prioritise, plan and direct workload and have experience of supporting and developing colleagues.

Our Pharmacy is a friendly, progressive department where clinical services are led by our Consultant Pharmacists and provided in a supportive team environment. Our team is a respected integral part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

Our modern service embraces technology with electronic prescribing, automated dispensaries and laptops for mobile working and point of care information access.

### Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will  be responsible for delivering and developing safe and effective comprehensive homecare services; and support the commissioning processes of high cost drugs. They will:

- Work alongside the Homecare Services Manager and clinical teams to ensure the provision of an integrated and efficient homecare service.
- Work alongside senior colleagues, clinicians, nurse specialists and other stakeholders to identify, plan and develop new opportunities for cost-effective management of high-cost drugs.
- Provide expert advice at policy and individual patient care levels.
- Participate in relevant clinical trials and practice research.
- Provide  supervision and mentorship to other pharmacists and pharmacy staff.
- Lead and develop audit, polices and guidelines in relation to homecare services and commissioning of high cost drugs.

Applicants should have a post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent experience), and  experience of clinical pharmacy and an understanding of homecare services and commissioning processes.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Substantial Post-graduate experience in hospital pharmacy, including: Clinical Pharmacy, Dispensing, Ward services, computerised stock control, Purchasing /procurement
- Clinical Pharmacy experience to include practicing at specialist level (level 2 equivalent), including: Assessing patient needs, Devising and delivering care plans, Supervision of junior staff
- Understanding of commissioning processes for high cost drugs
- Understanding of homecare system and regulations
- Evidence of developing evidence based prescribing guideline and policies
- Experience of leading/developing audit or quality improvement projects resulting in a change in practice.
- Demonstrates the characteristics of an effective role model and has experience of mentoring others
- Experience of improving quality within limitations of service

**Desirable**

- Experience of managing/leading a team of pharmacists and technicians in a clinical context
- Provision of professional advice at Directorate Management Team level (or equivalent)
- Experience of report writing

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- MPharm 4 year pharmacy degree or previously accredited BPharm (or BSc \[Pharm\])
- Successfully completed pre-registration year and registration examination leading to Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), (or other accredited route to membership for non-UK trained pharmacist)
- Post-graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
- Record of CPD covering a range of relevant post qualification education and experience

**Desirable**

- Post-graduate Master’s degree in clinical pharmacy
- Independent Non-medical prescribing
