Are you an experienced physiologist ready to lead our cardiac physiology team at one of the UK’s most prestigious NHS Trusts?

We are now inviting a senior and skilled professional to join our renowned, IQIPS (Improving Quality in Physiological Services) accredited echocardiography department at Charing Cross Hospital

Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, where you’ll handle a full spectrum of investigations, including 3D and strain analysis, paediatric TTE (transthoracic echocardiogram), cardio-oncology echo, and structural heart intervention TOE (transoesophageal echocardiogram). The workload will be a combination of service development/management and clinical practice in echocardiography at our Cardiac Investigation Unit - Charing Cross Hospital. ### Main duties of the job

- Lead our Charing Cross Hospital Cardiac Investigation Unit.
- Perform highly specialised echocardiographic investigations for adults and children, including advanced techniques like Doppler imaging and strain rate analysis, and independently issue diagnostic reports.
- Assess clinical needs and prioritise echocardiographic investigations to ensure timely, effective patient care.
- Provide supervision, informal teaching, and training to trainees, registrars, and other staff, enhancing their technical and clinical understanding.
- Assist in organising the department's daily workload, maintaining quality standards, and supporting service innovation and efficiency.  Not limited to Echocardiography.
- Maintain accurate electronic records of imaging, measurements, and diagnostic reports, and contribute to audit activities and clinical data analysis.
- Ensure all echocardiography equipment is fully functional, safe, and used appropriately, adhering to infection control and health and safety standards.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous leadership of a department/sub-speciality area of cardiac physiology/echocardiography
- Line-management responsibilities for a team of physiologists
- Strong teaching/training background for individuals undergoing BSE accreditation
- Experience of stressechocardiography, TOE, and contrast bubble-studies

**Desirable**

- Previously employment as band 8a department lead
- Experience of physiologist/scientist led stress-echocardiography, and contrast bubblestudies
- Development of physiologist/scientist led services

### Education / Qualifications

**Essential**

- Qualified cardiac physiologist
- BSE adult TTE accreditation or equivalent (ASE/EACVI).
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, including attendance of local/in-house management courses
- Initial application for STP equivalence submitted

**Desirable**

- Higher academic qualification (MSc/MBA/PhD/doctoral study)
- Formal management qualification
- Level 3 BSE accreditation in stressechocardiography
- Registered clinical scientist with the HCPC

### Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

**Essential**

- Sensitive and effective communication skills
- Strong education/training skills. Regular presenter/lead for local/in-house meetings
- Strong people-management skills

- People-management training
