We are currently recruiting to our Laundry & Logistics service and we are looking for highly motivated Porter/Driver to work as part of a team and to be able to work on their own initiative.

Duties included as set out in the Job description.

Staff are expected to work to a high standard, Porter/Drivers will be required to be patient focused, and all candidates must be flexible to cover service needs.

Full training will be given to all successful candidates.

### Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a Laundry & Logistics Operative - Portering/Driving service to work based within Hollins Park Mental Health Hospital and servicing surrounding areas on a daily basis.

Applications are invited from hard working, self-motivated individuals who are able to work on their own initiative and also as part of a team.   We are looking to  a recruit team member who has a flexible approach to their workload, can work to deadlines and show high standards of quality in their work.

You must have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and an understanding of health and safety in relation to safe working practices.

Previous experience of Portering/Driving  within a mental health setting would be advantageous.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Working within the Laundry & Logistics  Department that is inclusive of the delivering stores,  collecting and delivering linen, collecting and delivering confidential mail as and when required.

The removal of general and clinical waste, moving the waste manually, or with the appropriate vehicles or manual handling equipment and procedures.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

To work as members of a team, carrying out tasks as allocated and prioritized.

To participate in training, including Mandatory training as required by Mersey Care NHS  Foundation Trust. To participate in performance management, PACE  whilst maintaining personal responsibility to ensure that all required training is kept up to date.

To assist the line manager  to carry out the tasks assigned to the team or individual and to support the minimization of overtime and sickness costs.

The post holder will be expected to act as a team member (temporarily or permanently) in all areas of the estates facility, subject to training and an updated list of specific responsibilities.

The post holder is expected to carry out tasks assigned to them, considering the Security and Health and Safety of all parties including colleagues from with in their own department and those within the mental health division.

SPECIFIC  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

To be read as a list of specific duties and responsibilities that the job holder is responsible for in conjunction with the duties and responsibilities of a facilities management assistant.

To adhere to and follow Trust and departmental procedures.

To assist the line manager  to carry out the tasks assigned to the team or individual and to support the minimization of overtime and sickness costs.

The post holder will be expected to act as a team member (temporarily or permanently) in all areas of the estates facility, subject to training and an updated list of specific responsibilities.

The post holder is expected to carry out tasks assigned to them, considering the Security and Health and Safety of all parties including colleagues from with in their own department and those within the mental health division .

SPECIFIC  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

To be read as a list of specific duties and responsibilities that the job holder is responsible for in conjunction with the duties and responsibilities of a facilities management assistant.

To be accountable for reporting short, damaged or discrepant deliveries, liaising with the line manager.

To take personal responsibility for the completion of all duties in a safe and efficient manner and to maintain regular contact with line manager.

To undertake filing and general administration routines associated with the department.

To work unsupervised and to use your own initiative in line with service requirements. The post holder will also have a working knowledge of Health and Safety, Fire procedure as well as disturbance, escape and hostage procedures.

To comply with all security and fire procedures appertaining to the designated workplace

To maintain a thorough working knowledge and practice of policies and procedures associated with the Estates & Facilities department.

To report all defects to equipment and the environment to your line manager.

Any other duties that may be reasonably expected and that are commensurate with the grade.

To comply with COSHH and all other Health and Safety procedures relating to the Department.

Many of the Laundry & Logistics assistants will be expected to drive designated hospital vehicles up to 4 tonnes – all suitably qualified Laundry & Logistics staff can be required to drive vehicles as the course of their duties dictates.  This may include Electric vehicles.

The majority of work requires physical effort and Manual Handling Training is provided, and such training is to be applied diligently in all work. Post holders may use various machines and physical aids in their task, and will have to take on training and demonstrate ability to comply with the training.

Hazards

Security – awareness and knowledge of hospital and Trust  security procedures is mandatory

Collect and deliver goods as requested, moving them manually, or with the appropriate vehicles or manual handling equipment and procedures.

Use, monitor and maintain (daily checks and user task) for equipment used including daily and weekly checks – any faults reported to the Supervisor. Also various pieces of handling equipment e.g., electric stair lifter, sack barrows and roll cages

Working conditions – outdoor in all weather conditions.  Foul weather protective clothing is provided.  When working within the Low Secure Division, extra care should be taken in relation to the security procedures and vehicle security in particular.
