The Library and Knowledge Services team are looking for a new Knowledge Services Officer to work with us at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford and across the Trust. The Library and Knowledge Services team provide expert knowledge, evidence and support to empower staff to provide the best care, treatment and services. The service has recently changed direction and we need new team members to join us on the journey. This is an opportunity to contribute to established work and help create a service to fit the future of EKHUFT.

### Main duties of the job

The Library and Knowledge Services team provide expert knowledge, evidence and support to empower staff to provide the best care, treatment and services.

The Knowledge Services Officer will be the first point of contact for staff and students at William Harvey Hospital. You will be responsible for document supply, training users in accessing digital and physical resources and supporting the Clinical Librarians in their work. You will also have the opportunity to lead on various projects and groups across the LKS team. You will need to be friendly, approachable and open to new ideas and ways of working. While previous experience of library work is desirable, it is more important to have strong customer service, administrative and IT skills.

**Essential**

- Upholds and models the Trust values
- Physically fit in order to be able to lift and shelve books at various heights. Equipment is available to assist
- Ability to occasionally travel between sites

### Governance

**Essential**

- Experience of collecting data on service or business use

**Desirable**

- Experience of preparing for Health and Safety audits
- Understanding of legislation with particular relevance to library work, such as copyright, intellectual property and data protection
- Awareness of current issues impacting on Library and Knowledge Services provision

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Five GCSEs at grade C or above or 4-9 or equivalent including Maths and English
- Evidence of continued professional development and life-long learning

**Desirable**

- Vocational qualification in Library and Information Studies or other relevant discipline
- Working towards Certification membership of the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals

### Skills and experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working in a customer centred environment
- IT knowledge and skills including use of MS Office and social media
- Understanding and handling complex user requests.
- Training individuals or small groups
- Receive and convey complex, sensitive information requests accurately

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of library administration procedures
- Experience working in a health –related library
- Familiar with complex database software
- Use of academic databases, journals and other information resources
- Training library users in effective use of information resources
